Jan.ai : Bringing AI to your Desktop

Jan (also known as Jan.ai) is an open-source, cross-platform AI framework that works with large langague model both locally or remotely. It enables developers to create a variety of AI applications. It is designed to be a more privacy- and developer-friendly alternative to AI platforms whose sources are not accessible and therefore closed, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Jan.ai's offering also includes Jan Desktop. This is an application that can be installed on multiple OSes and provides a ChatGTP capable of working with various LLM models, including Llama 2 Chat 70B Q4 and of course OpenAI GPT 4.

Here are some of the main features of the Jan.ai framework:

Jan runs all its AI processing on the user's local machine, ensuring that no data is sent to third-party servers. This means that users can be confident that their conversations with Jan are private and secure, provided of course that no remote LLM models such as OpenAI GPT 3.5 Turbo or OpenAI GPT 4 are used.

Jan is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, making it a versatile platform for the development of artificial intelligence applications.

Jan provides a rich set of APIs and tools for developers to create AI applications, making it easy to get started and integrate Jan into existing projects.

Jan is still under development, but it is already a powerful tool for creating AI applications. As the project matures, it is likely to become an even more popular choice for developers who want to create privacy-focused, developer-friendly AI applications.

Jan stores all its data on the user's local machine, making it easy to backup and restore data. It also means that users are not dependent on cloud services, which can sometimes be unreliable.
